Business Requirement:
The client needed a mobile app to help post-surgical patients safely manage opioid medications and allow physicians to monitor patient progress, helping reduce the risk of opioid dependence.
Business Solution:
AccelOne developed a 25-screen mobile and web application that allowed patients to track their pain and medication use, while doctors could monitor patient data in real-time and intervene when necessary.
Technical Solution:
The app was built using cross-platform frameworks for mobile and desktop, with real-time data sharing between patients and physicians. It included medication tracking, pain reporting, and location-based services to find nearby opioid return sites.
Challenges:
The app needed to be user-friendly for patients recovering from surgery while offering comprehensive data tracking and real-time alerts for doctors. Additionally, the solution had to comply with HIPAA regulations.
Approach:
AccelOne designed the app with simplicity in mind, ensuring a smooth user experience for patients. The development process included UX design, web and mobile development, and end-to-end testing to ensure quality.
The design and development for the app were taken on by a highly qualified AccelOne nearshore team that included a senior user experience (UX) designer with extensive experience in mobile health application design and healthcare platforms, a user interface (UI) designer, two full stack web developers, and a mobile application developer. A technical project manager (TPM) tracked technical requirements and ensured that the project was on time and within budget. Our senior quality assurance (QA) engineer designed and implemented the quality assurance process.
Results:
The app was successfully launched, providing a safe and easy-to-use tool for patients to manage pain and medication, while giving doctors valuable insights to improve care.
Meeting the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements for patient data privacy and security was of utmost importance, and AccelOne was able to create an app architecture that stores no personal data on mobile devices.
AccelOne’s mobile health app provided a crucial tool for post-surgical care, promoting safe medication use and supporting both patients and physicians in the recovery process.
